Summary
A digital video camera and a projected light line, or a fringe pattern, converge on the part. The camera reads the shape drawn by the luminous plane or the pattern on the surface of the part. The software then uses triangulation calculations to generate a set of 3D points which belong to the surface. Our profilometers all use this principle, to different effects.
Applied to a continuously running product, or used in conjunction with a translating device, the set of profiles read by the profilometer provides a 3D scan of the surface. Satimage profilometers are 3D scanning devices which work in manufacturing environments.
Some models make use of a special illuminating beam projector: our profilometers may work on your product while competitor systems meet adverse reflectivity and/or speckle issues.
