Summary
On-board sensor for laser butt-welding machines. Checks the joint prior to welding. Attached just ahead of the welding head. Checks the lateral position of the joint, the gap, and detects any local edge defects. Accuracy ± 3 µm. Zeroing SeamInspector with respect to the laser spot actual location is very fast and easy. SeamInspector's monitor provides the values of any corrections (offsets) that should be entered. Insensitive to the shape of the cut. Insensitive to the fin position, below or above. Insensitive to the step position, works step below or step above.
If used during a test welding cycle at low power, SeamInspector also provides a fast way to check and adjust the focus of the laser.
