Satimage introduces SurfLab-3D, a system to read 3D surfaces which is easy and fast to use, based on profilometry and triangulation.
Several Satimage systems, dedicated to some specific application, really make use of SurfLab-3D's technology: RECTA-Profile (reads the shape of the cut edge of steel sheets) ; Profilo (checks continuous products such as cold-rolled profiles).
SurfLad-3D performs a 3D scan of the face of objects of reduced width, typically 0.4 to 8 inches (10 to 200 mm) - the object may be of arbitrary length. An accuracy of ± 5 µm is a typical value. While scanning the face, SurfLab-3D reads continuously the shape of the line obtained by projecting a planar light beam on the object: the successive profiles. As soon as the scan ends, SurfLab-3D's screen displays the 3D shape of the object. You can view the surface under any angle using the mouse. SurfLab-3D's software engine allows for performing checks both on the profiles and on the 3D surface (e.g. for checking the flatness or the curvature).
